Malaysia City Tour - Day -2

Dt: 12th June 2012 Plc: Kuala Lumpur

Well its already day-3  6:45pm at Genting, but i was all tired yday to type on something :P :P  Anyways to start off around Day-2 which included half day city(Kuala Lumpur) tour, we woke up

early morning all excited for the city tour......with caps and shades all ready, we moved to the Cafe to have our breakfast.......as we entered, we were surrounded by a mixed group of ppl from all around the world....some frm Malaysia, some from China......Pakistan, Quwait...n yes Indians, good in number.

It was all a buffet system......and you had hundreds of items to choose from. I tried to have a combination of veg and nonveg, however I was conscious whether I was the only one taking so much of stuffs :D :D

Took a plate and scrolled my eyes all around......took some chicken curry and sausage. From veg, they had idli, upma, sambhar and many more. I missed Punjabi items though. Picking up my share, I moved to my table to join my parents in the lovely breakfast which was rather converted to brunch by me.

We all had breakfast which was tasty and simple, without much of spices and chilli....Wondered if that was what made the localites lean. Anyways we had our breakfast and gathered at the lobby to wait for our driver. After 15mins of waiting, we heard a sounth-indian voice to see a telugu looking for us.It was Balakrisha, our driver cum tour guide for the day. We were accompanied by other two Indian groups too.

Starting our city tour, our guide drove us to Golden Triangle, a famous pic-taking spot, where we had to take pics with twin tower.

As parking wasnt allowed around twin towers, ppl chose that spot for photoshoot with the Petronas tower......Everyone spread across the Golden Triangle junction to utilise 10 crucial minutes to capture the most.We almost used to get a neck sprain all the time we used to see the apex of the skyscrapers. This was the first time we got a good chance to take the pics with petronas towers.

Moving on to our next spot, which was King's palace, our guide gave us a lot of information about the King which was chosen in Malaysia to rule for five years, just to maintain the custom which was going on since there forefathers. He said that there were 5 to 8 kings which were chosen and after every five years a new king was chosen.

A new king used to stay at this King's palace where we made a visit. Two of Kings guards stood right in front of the main gate to guard KIng's palace. We were allowed only outside the premises which had a royal look.

From there we visited the KL botanical gardens, which was spread in a big perimeter. We were to visit the War Memorial and Bird sanctuary , which were a part of the botanical garden. Malaysia was all clean and the gardens had some great view of how Malaysians keep their city clean and green and safe.As said by Balakrishna , at Malaysia, people were the police.

We reached the War Memorial and took quick snaps of all the statues and waterfalls which were a treat to the eye. After this we went to the bird sanctuary. And the best part was that a very very big part of the jungle was covered by net to keep the birds within the range. And it was one of the largest covering. As we were informed, when Malaysians need to watch birds, they dont go to zoo, rather they bring them into the city. The flaura and fauna brought right into the middle of the city was amazing and appreciated.

Our tourist guide and driver Balakrishna was a great man.He told a lot of facts about Malaysia.I would love to mention some facts by Malaysia point by point as shared by him:

1) Malaysian literacy is 65%
2) Here at Malaysia, ppl need to beware of bag snatchers. There is an enormous economical stability here, but the reason of lot of chain snatchers is lot of immigrants around world come to Malaysia and you never know that it might happen with you the very next second.
3) Some months from now, Malaysia too would be having bullet trains.
4) There is a large amount of drug dealers here in Malaysia.Drug dealers are rather hanged to death than being prisoned as they are considered pests for Malaysia :P:P
5) 10% of malaysians are Indians

After the last spot for the city tour, we headed our way back to our Hotel (The GRand seasons) with fond memories of Kuala Lumpur and some facts about Malaysia all fresh at heart. We fortunately got a south indian hotel "Shalimar Hotel" with the help of Balakrishna where we had planned our lunch.

We reached our room, where I decided to have a plunge at the swimming pool which was at 11th floor of the hotel.Sounds real cool right ? ;-)

I tried some of my swimming skills and soon Dad joined me.This was the first time when he was in the swimming pool. I taught Dad some of the basic swimming lessons while Mom took our snaps. We all were fresh again and we moved towards the Shalimar hotel where we had Masala Dosa and orange juice. Dosas are available worldwide !!

After the lunch, we moved back to our hotel and took a long nap.

We woke up at 7pm to find that we were a bit late.Had actually planned to visit the Petronas tower by 6pm.Anyways we got ready in a hurry and took the mono rail from Chow kit (the place where we stayed) to Bukit Nanas (where the PEtronas tower actually was). We reached Bukit Nanas which was 2 stations away and we took to the roads. The roads had a kind of Indian look with hung up lights from the trees and all decorated hotels.

Finally we reached Petronas tower where a healthy crowd was all visiting and endorsing them.It was really awesome and it was a great view. Certainly a not to missed place in the world, PEtronas Towers were all shining. All the glaze and an awesome surrounding. The time to visit the top floors were 9 to 9pm. But we were still happy to know that we could visit till 4th floor.Floor 1 to 4 were filled with malls which had international brand shops. Gucci, Titano, Harley Davidson bikes, Canon , Esprit .....and lots more.......

I was lucky enough to visit the Harley Davidson bike store at 3rd floor and felt one of the HDs for the first time. THe cost of one of the bike was approx 150000 RM, which made it 15lakh ruppees. :D  All the gadgets were cool and rocking.

With a nice stroll around, we explored almost all the floors and made our way to the backside of the towers where we could see musical fountains playing on. There was a cool crowd enjoying and acknowledging the same. We too enjoyed it for sometime and then we returned back toi Bukit Nanas mono rail station and returned back to Chow kit.

Reached Chow kit to find only one hotel open. It was Sahara Hotel , run by some Pakistanis and Indians. We were hungry and what best than Chicken kebab which tasted nice. After our dinner we thanked those guys and came back to our hotel.

Day-2 was all busy and tiring too. However we had some great sites to visit and good food too.....Feeling all satisfied,....

Naa jaane kyun

kisi ka saath toh chaaha zaroor
par khamoshi acchi lagne lagi

dil dhundta kisi ko aur humein
tanhaiyaan acchi lagi...

kho jayein kahin, chale jayein kahin door
akele hum ho jahan, na koi door door

puchhe humse duniya kyun
na jaane kehte humse kyun...

kya akela rehna theek nahi
na jaane rehte akele kyun..

Chaha humne bhi tha pyaar karna
na mila koi ...abhi tak

dosti hui na abhi ....
na pyaar hua abhi tak....

First foreign trip to Malaysia .....the day it all started

Day: 9th June and 10th June  Plc: Mumbai and Kuala Lumpur

All excited for my South Asia trip to Malaysia and Singapore I came to Pune to join my parents in all the packing and money transfers. It was Saturday morning and we had to transfer amounts, get Malaysian Ringgit and Singaporean dollar.
To add to the comfort, dad informed me that he had already bought the Malaysian Ringgit. So we were left with only a few last minute or the last day stuffs ;)

We started with the ounces one by one. Went to the near by Money Transfer branch to get the Malaysian Dollars. The following were the buy and sell rates @ the counter  :

Singapore Dollars : buy @ 47 and sell @ 39.75

not sure of the Malaysian Ringgit.

This was the first time when I was seeing and getting hold of the Malaysian and singapore currencies. Felt great and felt unique.Had heard lot of guys visiting onsite, and other overseas locations.Really a dream come true.

Anyways finally the D-day came tomorrow....the 9th of June. And me , me with my parents left for Mumbai International Airport. Our flight 9W4211 was due for departure at 11:55pm from the International Airport. As we moved on to check-in, we heard rain drops falling on the roof. Monsoon had just started in Mumbai and we were all in great mood to start off our trip.We checked in and had our Immigration check done.

It was 11pm and we heard the announcement for all passengers to board the flight. We moved on board and relaxed ourselves for the 4hr 40min duration to KL Int airport. Malaysian time was 2 to 3hrs ahead, so while it was 1am @ mumbai , it was 3am at kuala lumpur.

We reached KL Int airport at 7:30am local time and got down searching for baggage reclaim. But we were mixed up with the display boards, all in malaysian language :P :P   Finally we got the help of customer care section to know that we had to take a train which would take us to another terminal where we had to get the immigration verified and reclaim our luggage.

After getting our luggage back we moved out to the Exit, to see the travel agency guys holding the placard of dads name. The alloted a driver to us, who was a malaysian, however his grand parents were from south India. He explained us about our three day trip and gave us important tickets and documents for the same.It was an hour drive to our hotel. We saw the awesome n flat malaysian roads.....with cool cars flying on top speeds. However i saw only a few sports bike.We reached The Grand Season Int hotel which was an awesome hotel, one of the best i have seen, with lavish lobbies and custom swimming pool and wifi facility. We were welcomed by our receptionist Li Ham,who guided us to our hotel room.

We entered our classic room and kept our luggage and threw ourselves on bed as we were all tired coz of no sleep during our flight journey.Looked out of my window to see the swimming pool view and the malaysian buildings. The petronas tower was about 6km from our hotel. However we didnt get to see them from my window view :)

We took a long nap of about 4hrs and then got ready to check out the local shops and to get a feel of malaysia.Moved out to see the skyscrapers and capture the overhead trams which were a dream at mumbai. We kept walking on the lanes and tried to find an indian hotel.Walking a bit further, we gave up and went out to comfort ourselves and our tummies at a local snacks shop.We ordered for noodles, pineapple juice and tea.It was really funny explaining out to the waiter how we wanted only chicken in our noodles and nothing else !!  :D :D

This guy who took our orders used to respond by showing a thumbs up everytime he clearly understood us and vice versa.....the food was good and spicy and the tea was flavoury.....The guy enquired about us and was happy to know that we were from India. Our total bill was about 23genting and 30cents...sounds a bit sasta na ?  :)  His name was Shahrul, we almost heard it as Shahrukh to which he blushed a lot .....after all King Khan was famous all over........bidding him bye we came back to our hotel to do a bit of shopping and got a few mementoes.

Came back to out hotel rooms and were happy with the first day roaming........and started packing up for next day city visit. As i am writing this, mom n dad are busy calculating about the remaining Gentings and our plan and expectations......

Its 12am night......and I am all excited for tomorrow.....lets hope that we get to visit the Petronas tower and the KL tower........ :) Good night guys ...

socha na tha kabhi aise dost milenge
bas khushi aur masti ke itne hazaar lamhe milenge......

gham ka andhera kabhi na chhue hamein..
khushi ka saath baandhe rakhhe hamein......

jo thodi gam se mulaaqat ho jae....

THE BEST DAYS OF MY LIFE “ AT NIST “

Cant 4get those exciting days
Each memory flashing before n says
This was life and this was it.
Here is where our life lays.

Wish I cud stop time and go back to past,
My heart strives but reaches nowhere.
Bunking classes n enjoin with frens
Can we get back those days again?

One life ends and the other gazes,
But life here was the best embrace
The best days of ma life,
The only NIST where we were all.

Going to the labs was what we all hated,
Morning classes had us on our toes.
Reaching to class half n hour late
N behaving as if we were first to gate

I-card were kept in pockets,
Until our eyes rises
To see padhy sir entering the scene
Now was the beginning of spleen.

Still I laugh thinking about those days
Going to gumti and speaking bout d pain.
Evry1 had something to share
With cigarettes n chai everywhere
NIST wasn’t spared and every1 gave a glare.

Library was our hideout,
Time to chat and discuss whereabouts
Playing song on mobile and copying assignment
Life was still fun and the best.

Couples had a gud time near rock garden
The singles (like me) had a lot to comment
A guy n a gal can never be frens
That’s the motto we liked to say to them.

What to say bout d internals,
1hr was too much to spare,
“Take lite” we used to say,
Sometimes even sitting for exam was HELL.

Project,Seminar and still EDC to come,
Tension was all there when we wanted fun.
Semesters are to be thought of just a week b4,
We watched a few movies n even more.

Back at hostel food is hell
With mixed vegetable (ghaanta) always served
We never got as to why we pay.
Bihari dhaba was there at rescue,
So ghanta was served to just a few

Still lukin back ma heart skips a beat,
To think about leaving this college after few week
Will miss my frens and everyone here
May be we will never be able to meet but,
Hum hain rahi pyaar ke
Phir milenge chalte chalte………………..
